The “Arkansas Freedom of Information Act” (FOIA). Section 3 of Act 1653 requires each state agency, board and commission to prepare and make available certain information to the public, including the agency’s method of operations, records the agency maintains and certain regulations, rules of procedure and policies adopted by the agency. Much of this information is located on the city website. Please note: many of the records may not be available for public inspection under the FOIA because they are exempt from disclosure under that Act or other state or federal law.
The Arkansas Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) allows the public (“citizens”) to inspect and receive copies of public records of governmental agencies unless the law makes an exception for them. The law also requires that most meetings of “governing bodies” be open to the public.
Medical Records and Vital Records are not open for release under the FOIA. There are several other exemptions to the FOIA.
